Study in Canada

Canada is consistently ranked as one of the safest and most liveable countries in the world. Canadian campuses are known for their inclusive and supportive environments, with extensive services for international students. Most universities offer orientation programmes, academic advising, career services, and mental health support. The climate varies significantly across the country -- winters can be harsh in most regions, but cities like Vancouver and Victoria have milder weather. Canada's multicultural society means you will find communities from virtually every country, and international food, cultural events, and religious centres are widely available. Healthcare is covered by provincial health plans in most provinces, though some may require a waiting period.

Canada offers two study permit pathways: the regular Study Permit and the Student Direct Stream (SDS) for eligible countries including Pakistan. The SDS pathway requires you to pay your first year's tuition upfront, purchase a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of at least CAD 20,635, and achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 in each band. SDS processing typically takes 4 to 6 weeks, compared to 8 to 16 weeks for regular permits. The application fee is CAD 150 plus CAD 85 for biometrics. You will need a Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), proof of financial support, and academic transcripts. Pakistani nationals may also need a medical examination and police clearance certificate.
